CPHL Season

The Colorado Prep Hockey League (CPHL) is our fall club season and the first of two seasons we play each school year. It gives players competitive ice time before the high school season and is where many new players find their footing. The Wolverines roster student athletes from Chaparral, Legend, and Ponderosa, plus Parker-area private schools including Lutheran, CEC, and eDCSD.

Season at a Glance

Season	August through mid-November. The CHSAA Season begins right after.
Teams	18U, freshmen through seniors. Two rosters: Wolverines T1 and Wolverines T2, which typically correlate to Varsity and JV.
Practices	2–3 per week, primarily after school. Ice time increases early in the season. Days and times change year to year.
Games	Roughly 18–25 games, including 2–3 tournaments. Games are scheduled any day of the week, including Sundays.
Home Rinks	Family Sports Center (Centennial) and South Suburban Sports Complex. Occasionally Big Bear when our primary rinks are full.
Governing Body	Colorado Prep Hockey League. Falls under USA Hockey.
School Affiliation	None. CPHL is a club season, so we wear different uniforms than in the CHSAA season.

Rosters do not carry over. Every player, returning or new, must register and try out each season. A CPHL roster spot does not guarantee a CHSAA roster spot, and the reverse.

How to Register

CPHL registration runs entirely through our team website on CrossBar. No school registration is needed. Complete every step in order.

Get a current-season USA Hockey registration. Register at usahockey.com. You will need your USA Hockey number to register for tryouts.
Complete SafeSport training (ages 17 and 18). Players who are 17 or 18 must complete USA Hockey SafeSport training before they can be rostered.
Register for tryouts. Use the Registration block on the right side of this page (below this content on phones). You will be assigned to a tryout group after registering.
Try out. Tryouts are generally two 1-hour sessions. Additional sessions may be added based on tryout numbers or other needs.
Watch for your offer. Players selected receive an offer through CrossBar. Watch your email and CrossBar notifications closely.
Accept your offer and pay the deposit. Accepting and paying at least the season dues deposit locks in your roster spot and adds you to team communications. Your spot is not confirmed until both are done.

Fees & Payments

All CPHL fees and dues are paid through CrossBar. Season dues change year to year based on operating costs such as ice time and officials.

Common Questions

Do I need to attend Chaparral to play?

No. The Wolverines are a co-op of Parker-area schools, and CPHL is a club season with no school registration.

Do I need a USA Hockey registration?

Yes. CPHL falls under USA Hockey, and a current-season registration is required before you register for tryouts. (The CHSAA season falls under NFHS and does not require it.)

What if I'm not selected for a game roster?

Some players may be offered a practice player spot. Practice players are part of the team and practice with us as often as they can, pay a reduced fee that covers practice ice, and play games in another league. They are not rostered for CPHL games.

I made the CPHL team. Am I on the CHSAA roster?

No. Each season has its own registration, tryout, and roster. See the CHSAA Season page.

How will I get team updates?
